BEER LEAGUE BULLIES vs. MISFITS
Thursday, July 23, 2026 | AFC Rink 2 | Final: 7-4
TWO CUPS, TWO DAYS
The Bullies walked into Thursday night already holding a summer championship from Tuesday. They walked out with another one. That's what happens when your roster is deep enough to win even when your captain's at Disneyland, your best player is busy defending Sweden's honor, and your regular goalie is in Hawaii. Mike Hernandez stood on his head. Paul Przybylski did what Paul Przybylski does. The Misfits watched 7-4 flash on the scoreboard and had to accept that they got schooled.
PERIOD BY PERIOD
1st Period — 3-1 BLB
Kellen Hart opened it at 2:30 with help from Anthony Marimberga. Forty seconds later, Shawn Volchok made it 2-0 with Paul Przybylski and Dylan Yerry getting the assists. Then Dylan Yerry added a third at 8:02 — Volchok and Przybylski setting it up again. Three goals, three different scorers, and Przybylski's fingerprints all over two of them.
The Misfits got one back at 9:04 to make it 3-1, but the Bullies had already sent the message: we came to work.
2nd Period — 7-4 BLB
The second period was where this game got decided. Robert Smith tied it 3-2 for the Misfits at 2:15, but Paul Przybylski answered at 3:37 to make it 4-2. The Flying Przy strikes again — fast, physical, untouchable. The Misfits spent all night trying to lay a glove on him and never could. They'd wind up, he'd already be gone. Welcome to playing against Przybylski when he's locked in.
Dallas Erickson scored at 5:28. John Fiore scored at 6:09. The Bullies were playing a different speed. Gregory Kerr got one back short-handed at 9:49 to cut it to 6-3, but Dallas Erickson finished the second on a power play at 12:02 to make it 7-3. Robert Smith scored again at 17:19 to make it 7-4, but by then the championship was already decided.
3rd Period — 7-4 BLB
The third period was a formality. The Bullies didn't score, didn't need to. Zero penalties for the Bullies. Clean. Professional. The Misfits took three infractions trying to slow down a team they couldn't touch.
SPOTLIGHT
Paul Przybylski — One goal, two assists, three points. But the real stat is the number of times the Misfits players watched him disappear. The Flying Przy lived up to his nickname Thursday night: fast enough to skate circles around defenders, physical enough to hold his own when someone finally caught up. The Misfits game plan apparently was "try to hit Przybylski," and their result was "never find him."
Shawn Volchok — One goal, two assists, three points. The captain wasn't at Disneyland Thursday, and he made sure everyone knew what that meant.
Dylan Yerry — One goal, two assists, three points. Yerry was everywhere in the second period when the Bullies put the game away.
Dallas Erickson — Two goals. Clean finishes when it mattered most.
John Fiore — One goal, one assist. Fiore showed up and contributed.
Mike Hernandez — Twelve saves on sixteen shots for a .750. Jesse Granger was in Hawaii living his best life, so Hernandez got the call in the championship game. He answered it. Not flashy, but solid when it counted.
Goalie: Mike Hernandez — 16 SOG, 4 GA, 12 SV (.750)
Shots on Goal: BLB 36, Misfits 16
Penalties: BLB 0 infractions | Misfits 3 infractions / 6 min
LOOKING AHEAD
Two championships in two days. One week. That's the kind of season nobody forgets. The Bullies showed up missing half their roster — Schopen's busy with Mickey Mouse, Adolfsson's defending Swedish airspace — and still managed to go perfect when it mattered. That's not luck. That's depth. That's knowing your system works no matter who's on the ice.
Summer's over. Two cups on the shelf. Offseason starts now, but this week? This week belongs to the Bullies.
